Dec. 10, 2019: No non-compliant items

As required for enforcement of the Animal Welfare Act, veterinary medical officers from the U.S. Department of Agriculture regularly conduct unannounced inspections of facilities that house animals for research. For three days in December 2019, USDA inspectors conducted a review of animals, facilities and associated records at the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, School of Medicine and Public Health, and School of Veterinary Medicine — each host to a broad range of research and training projects that involve animals covered by the AWA. The programs include many laboratories and animal housing facilities, as well as many scientists, animal care, veterinary and research staff.

USDA inspectors found the college and schools to be in compliance with the AWA.
