As required for enforcement of the Animal Welfare Act, veterinary medical officers from the U.S. Department of Agriculture regularly conduct routine, unannounced inspections of facilities that house animals for research. In June and July 2025, USDA inspectors conducted a review of animals, facilities and associated records at UW–Madison’s College of Letters & Science and School of Medicine and Public Health.
USDA inspectors found the school to be in compliance with the AWA.
